Having small children can often mean a night out is nigh on impossible. I don’t know about your household but in ours there are often conversations that go a little like this – “But you went out for drinks on Friday two weeks in a row, it’s my turn to go out!” “I NEED to get out of the house, you can go out next time!!” – and so on and so forth. This Saturday I was positively grateful for my younger cousin deciding to celebrate her birthday with adult conversation, beverages and no little people in sight thus giving me a……
I ate food without contracting heartburn. I bore the PANTS off my sisters at dinner because when I escape the house these days I’m far too excited and I just cannot keep a lid on it. I went to one of these, you’ve probably heard of them? We got reacquainted pretty quickly.
I encountered a little of my old child-free self. She can be a bit annoying after three wines but it’s nice to touch base. She can’t rock a short skirt anymore and I’m fairly certain she has freckles older than the boy who was collecting our empty glasses but that’s ok. She gets to go home and there’s no cooler night out than that.
