My Top Ten Albums Revealed

Last week I spoke of music and mirth and how I’ve been busy collating my top fifty albums of all time.  Well it’s now time to reveal my top ten.  I did warn you there would be grunge but I promise this does taper off.  A little.

This is by no means a discerning list, just albums that have been the soundtrack to my existence and which still hold up to this day.

At the end of the list you will find a link to a playlist on 8tracks with my selections from the top ten.  I will keep adding to this as I reveal more of the list each week.  If you would still like an album cover in your mailbox, please let me know.  I might even share an intimate memory on the back.

The List

1. Nirvana – Nevermind

2. The Strokes – Is This it?

3. Red Hot Chili Peppers – Blood Sugar Sex Magik

4. Pearl Jam – Ten

5. Smashing Pumpkins – Siamese Dream

6. Jane’s Addiction – Ritual De Lo Habitual

7. Pixies – Doolittle

8. The White Stripes – White Blood Cells

9. Coldplay – A Rush of Blood to the Head

10. Soundgarden – Badmotorfinger

The playlist can be found on 8tracks here.  Enjoy.

Oh you have some excellent selections there, some of these albums still transport me to a specific point in my teenage angst of docs and levis, love it! Nevermind forever changed my connection with music and it will always hold a special place in my heart. There are a couple I am not that familar with but will definitely listen to based of your fabulous taste ;)

    • Carli

Nevermind won out at number one in the end for the same reasons. It has a special place for me too.

  • Maxabella

Throw Radio Songs in there and you and I would have SUCH a good time together! x

    • Carli

Yes! And we can send our husbands to the club!

  • Catherine Rodie Blagg

Good selection! Haven’t listened to smashing pumpkins in years.. Must rectify that later!

    • Carli

That’s one album I’ve really enjoyed listening to again.

  • Rachel

So let me guess, you don’t watch MAX on Foxtel very often?

    • Carli

No, is that one of those music shows where the ladies often forget to wear pants?

      • Rachel

Hmm, not sure about the pants situation, but there’s lots of auto-tune and warbling about love and loss.

  • Christine Macdonald

Love this list! So many memories dancing on stage! Thank you. Excellent taste. xxoo

  • Grace

Ten is one of my all time favourite albums!!! I was in uni going through my (pseudo) grunge phase and just loved it! My favourite song on the album was “Black” Moved me. Every. Single. Time.
Saw them in concert in 1994 (?).
Oh my, you’re bringing back some fantastic memories for me, Carli…

  • Tam

Ooh, you started with the top 10! Exciting!

I reckon five of those would be in my top 20 or so. You were obviously much cooler than me in the 90s/00s though because there would be at least one embarrassing pop album in my top ten.

  • Kylie @ Octavia and Vicky

I could very easily listen to a play list of these albums. Great choices.

  • Sharron

Good list, I have all of the albums apart from the Pixies, so off to listen to that now on Spotify as you obviously have great taste :)

  • veggie mama

This looks extraordinarily like my list from the ’90s! Except I had a little more punk, hardcore and metal. I’d still whack a couple on my top ten list though!
